Beautiful Spring Garden Textures

The scent of the garden in the morning feels like vacation…Friends and family comment how wonderful the garden smells.  It is a delight to stroll through the garden and notice the fresh colors and textures.

Years ago I started some Verbascums and am always so pleased to see them self-sow. Verbascums have a deep taproot, but you can move them when you first see their little leathery leaves. They like to grow inbetween the pavers. So when I move them I try to place them inbetween rocks or pavers. Golden Moneywort, Lysimachia nummularia weaves around it like a garland. Can you tell I love colorful leaves.

The other side of the old elm tree. Tiny sedums acre stays green, even though the winter in this undisturbed spot. This is where I drop odd rocks and bits of this and that.
Everywhere there is texture and color. I’m glad to be able to share it with you. Now if you could only smell the scent of the lilac that is coming in from the open window.

  3. Gloria,

I do love all of those different textures, rough, soft, etc., don't always need flowers to have an interesting garden.
